Bloom Where you are planted

Pastor Sim

In April 2013, the Lakers beat the Warriors by just two points. That day, Kobe Bryant showed once again that he was a true legend. In the 45th minute of the game, Kobe tore his achilles. For any athlete, such an injury would normally require an immediate cessation of all physical activity. But that day, Kobe decided to stay on the court and managed to score two free throws with a broken achilles. The final score was so close that without those two free throws, the Lakers could not have won this game.

Many of us feel limited by our context. Our circumstances can prevent us from developing and thriving. But the ideal context and the perfect conditions do not exist. Life will never be perfect. There will always be wounds, obstacles, setbacks, or fears. If you wait for the perfect moment to succeed, you will wait a long time. The best time to try is now. Today is the best context for you to act. Even if it hurts, build with what you have, start in spite of your lack, begin regardless of your context.

Jeremiah 29:4-6 says:
To the Israelites who were held captives in Babylon: Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit. Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters—that you may be increased there, and not diminished.

In other words,

bloom where you are planted!
